Small Teen, Bigger World – Some Clarification – Please Read

There has been some wonderful comments on Hello Little Lady regarding the lovely Jasmine and Bev Burkitt because of their show, Small Teen, Bigger World airing on BBC 3 over the last few weeks.

I would like to clarify that I am neither Jazz nor Bev Burkitt.

I’m another lady with a different form of restricted growth who has chosen to remain anonymous for various reasons, but mainly because I want to raise awareness of what it is like living day-to-day as a dwarf and I also like a good moan.

Jasmine and her mum, Bev, and the production company Nine Lives have done a fantastic job of raising such awareness and for that they should be commended.

If the show makes one person just stop and think before they open their mouth to mock, if as a person of restricted growth, we are warmly acknowledged rather than made fun of, then Small Teen, Bigger World, has made the UK a slightly safer, more understanding place for us dwarves to go on with our day-to-day lives.  And I for one, am very grateful to them all for that.  And thank you readers for your wonderful comments.

My wife and i watched this programme every week. We thought it was fantastic. To have taught your daughter at home and for her to grow up into such a confident, intellegent and stylish ( we liked your dress sense) young lady was amazing. Don’t worry about failing your driving test all the best drivers pass second time. One last thing, try and help your father rather than shutting him out. It could make things worse for him. Good luck with the animals. Love Julian and Virginie

What a brilliant programme! Jazz, Bev and their family are so lovely. They face their many challenges with courage and humour that is truly inspiring; I wish I had a fraction of their courage. I would be very proud to call them my friends and I wish them a bright, happy, healthy future. Love and best wishes, from Judi
